There has been a lot of buzz about Jim Furyk recently oversleeping and being disqualified from The Barclays. However, he isn't the only athlete to oversleep a sporting event which is why we are launching our "Sleeping Stars" series.
Today we are highlighting one of baseball's greats (and recently retired) Ken Griffey Jr. With 630 Home Runs, 13 All Star Seasons, and 1,836 RBIs , there's no question that Griffey is a first ballot hall of famer. However, not all of his career highlights have been positive. Griffey once missed a pinch-hit opportunity because he fell asleep. In May of this season, Griffey went to get a jacket in the fifth inning during a game against the Angels. When he didn't come back two innings later, a teammate went into the clubhouse and saw Griffey fast asleep in a chair. Griffey ended up retiring a few weeks later.
